Back and Body Acne

It is estimated that at least 70% of the American Population suffers from Acne and its evil cousins.  Unfortunately, not all acne is concentrated on the face and commonly appears on the back, body, chest, and upper arms.  It is common enough that new names have been created to describe these conditions such as “Backne,” and “Chacne” (for the Back and Chest respectively).  No one wishes to suffer from acne, no matter where it is - not the face, back, nor body.

Acne - Acne is caused when the hair follicles in our skin are over-congested.  The substance that the hair follicles naturally produce (called sebum) is usually helpful to the skin by preventing dryness. But, when there is an abundance of sebum, the follicles become a harbor for acne-causing bacteria.

There is hope! Since the problems that cause acne are ‘foreign’ in nature there are procedures and certain measures to be taken which will cause the ugly acne to go away.  There are a number of different acne treatments and methods used ranging from creams and gels, to pills you can take internally.  Each of these treatments has its certain advantages and disadvantages.

What you can do - By researching what product is best suited for your type of acne, you will know what needs to be done to live a life free of acne (no matter where it is on your body).  As mentioned above, this may take the form of a prescribed or over-the-counter pill, or the application of a cream or gel.
